He Drew me Out of Mighty Waters

"Draw near, O nations to hear;
O people, give heed! Let the earth hear, and all that fills it;
the world, and all that comes from it" (Is 34:1).

I am now 26 years old. At three years of age I was stricken with polio and paralyzed waist down. I could not, therefore, walk as other people did. I had to drag my feet to go from one place to another. I used to curse myself thinking of my fate! A situation different from those of others! "How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?" (Ps 13:1). But he did not hide himself from me for long "Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teacher will not hide himself any more, but your eyes shall see your teacher. And when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left , your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,'This is the way; walk in it'" (Is 30:20-21).

I came to know about the Convention to be held at Christ King church, Arattuvazhi , Njarackal. I had a great longing to attend it. But how could I? If only my legs were strong enough to carry me, I would be there to listen to the healing, loving word of God. Two volunteers who heard of my desire came with a conveyance to take and bring me back! I made my way crawling through the big crowd. It was Fr John Kanicheri who led the convention. On the fourth day during the Holy Mass I experienced a burning sensation in my midriff. I felt my hips being strengthened. With hope and trust I participated in the retreat. As per Father's direction, I kept praying from the depths of my heart. 'Holy Spirit, come and fill me.' During the Holy Hour, I placed my hands on the two sisters on either side and stood up and walked four steps. "Glorify the Lord and exalt him as much as you can, for he surpasses even that. When you exalt him, summon all your strength, and do not grow weary, for you cannot praise him enough" (Sir 43:30)

I forgot my surroundings and continued praying for an anointing of the Holy Spirit. Unawares, I kept moving forward and reached Father's feet. Father placed his hands on my head and, holding my hands, raised me to my feet. In the name of Jesus I stood up! Thank you Jesus!While praying for the anointing, I saw Jesus standing beside me and giving me something from his Sacred Heart. Today I can pray with joy. I am getting ready for intercessory prayer. Completely hale and hearty, I firmly believe I shall be a witness to Jesus all my life.

"We could say more but could never say enough;
let the final word be: '
He is the all'"(Sir 43:27).
