Power
"Whatever you
ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive" (Mt 21:22)
I never could fathom the
depth of God's love-a love that was hidden beneath the plans he had for
me. Plans that apparently destroyed me, but were in reality a means to
lead me to happiness.
I had been suffering from
acute pain, swelling and numbness in my right leg. A week's treatment in
Father Muller's hospital in Kankanady, did not do me any good. A milogram
test then revealed that there was an abnormal growth in the upper part
of the spine and circulation had stopped in a certain portion. Moreover
one of the discs was turned in the wrong direction. Immediate surgery was
essential or both my legs would become paralysed, the doctors warned.
Surgery was done, the stitches
removed after 11 days. High fever and typhoid followed and the leg began
festering. Very soon both the legs were motionless. I had to depend on
others totally for every need. For six months I was completely bed-ridden
and then discharged. A month's ayurvedic treatment was of no avail.I could
not sit or turn or stand straight. In this state I was taken to Divine.
The Lord heard my earnest prayer. I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit
and was able to sit, stand and walk about with the help of a belt and walking
stick.
Some months later the Lord
heard my wife's steadfast prayer and rewarded her faith. I was freed from
alcoholism. I became a new creation, having been liberated from unforgiveness
and habits of sin. "See, the Lord's hand is not too short to save, nor
his ear too dull to hear. Rather, your iniquities have been barriers between
you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he
does not hear "(Is59:1-2). Another retreat at Divine brought me still more
blessings. During the laying on of hands, I felt a strange power flowing
into me, and discarding the belt and staff I walked unaided. I heard Fr
Panackal announcing, "Jesus is touching someone who has had surgery of
the backbone."
"The Lord is gracious and
merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love" (Ps 145:18).
Back in Mangalore, tests
at the City Hospital confirmed all the healing I did get through the mercy
of Jesus. All praise and glory, honour and adoration be to you O Jesus!
