The Power of Forgiveness

I have not gone to Potta to take part in the prayer conducted there. But my mother and sister, who had been there, often talked about it. Listening to them, one conviction began taking root in me- that we should forgive others and pray for those who have offended us. This conviction grew stronger day by day.

I was once travelling to Patna. I was physically indisposed with bleeding and other complications and wondered how I would spend two or three days in Patna. Once there, I happened to be engaged in a conservation with people who had never heard about Potta. I said to them, "This is what they teach in Potta. We should forgive our enemies and pray for their good." As I uttered these words I experienced a current passing through my body. Fearing I would fall, I held on to the table in front of me. I was immediately healed of the bleeding I was suffering from. I have never had it since.

"I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Mt 5:44).
