Neha-the Child of
God’s Predilection
" Do not fear, for
I am with you, do not be afraid,
for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you
with my victorious right hand" (Is 41:10)
For five years after we
got married we remained childless. We spent our days in grief. Doctors
could do nothing. In November 1995, we came back to India from Abu Dabi,
went to Divine and made use of the opportunity to get closer to God. In
six months’ time my wife became pregnant. But in the fourth month, the
membrane in which the foetus floats, burst and the amniotic fluid began
spilling over. For four months my wife was hospitalised. "Any moment abortion
can take place; the child cannot be saved"-this was the verdict of the
doctor. Medical expertise was helpless. We put our complete trust in God
and waited with hope for God’s mercy. Back home, our parents and home folks
and friends went to Divine and prayed ardently for us.
After each scan the report
said – no fluid. But still the foetus was growing. The doctors were astounded.
Thus for eight months the child was safe in God’s hands. And suddenly the
child’s heart beat began slowing down. Soon on March 8, 1997, my wife was
operated on. The Lord blessed us with a baby girl. It was only through
God’s miraculous power that she survived and so all began calling her "Miracle
Baby". She had to be in the incubator for a fortnight but was perfectly
healthy when discharged. We call her Nehamol.
