His Mercy Fell like
the Dew from the Heavens
"The Spirit of the
Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed
me to bring good news
to the poor. He has
sent me to proclaim release to
the captives and
recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed
go free" (Lk 4:18-19)
"I had heard about the great
graces people receive and the miraculous events taking place in Potta,
India. I had a great desire to go to Potta and make a retreat there," so
said Edward Spencer from Kent. He continued, "At that time I came to know
that the Potta Team was coming to England for a Bible Convention. On March
26,27,28 Fr Augustine Mundackatt and Dr Rohan Sequiera together conducted
the convention at Chartsy. My wife, children and mother-in-law joined me
in attending the convention. Diabetes had resulted in the loss of my sight.
So it was with acute pain but a lively faith and an ardent prayer that
the Lord would touch me that I attended the convention.
"On the second day of the
convention I went to see Fr Mundackatt along with my family and shared
my pain and grief with him. Father, very kindly, wiped away my tears and
said, ‘Do not weep. The Lord is merciful. There is nothing impossible for
him. Did you not enjoy good eyesight till the age of forty? Now intercede
for those born blind, those who have never seen the universe bright with
light and colour.’ He then prayed over me.
"It was the time of the Holy
Hour. Father began praying for the sick and then for those who were blind.
There were several cases of healing. I was listening to the testimony of
one who was healed of a squint. My tears kept falling into the hands of
the Lord. A thousand light balls seemed to enter my eyes. Suddenly God’s
power filled me. I, who had lost my sight for so many years, could now
see everything. I was overjoyed. The next day I made full use of the opportunity
to testify publicly to the Lord’s mercy."
