God’s Multifarious Gifts
I am a fifty seven year-old
cycle rickshaw-puller. I began this occupation at the age of 16 and at
the same time became addicted to alcoholism. I began with sweet toddy and
then reached a stage when foreign liquor was my daily beverage. I got married
at the age of 23. And then began several problems in the family. The crisis
deepened. My wife and children threatened to leave me. In 1991 I participated
in the convention led by Fr Naickomparambil at Shaktikulangara. The word
of God touched me. I gave up alcoholism, smoking and many other vices.
I was also healed of my allergy. There was a tremendous change in my life
and in the family, joy and peace reigned. From 1992 I started going to
Potta and Divine to attend retreats. And now I try to get as many people
as possible to go to the retreat centres and to help in the circulation
of Vachanolsavam.

My name is Vijayan. I am
a non-Christian. I was afflicted with ulcer. I found it very difficult
to walk or even eat any food. Advised by a friend, I went to Potta Ashram
and attended the daily prayer service. That was in 1991. On the very first
day at 12 noon I was bathed in a sweat. The weight in my mind was taken
away and a cooling sensation spread all over my body. Later, after a retreat
for four continuous weeks, I was perfectly healed of ulcer. I also got
rid of smoking, drunkenness and other vices.

of his Mercies
"...If you believed
you would see the glory of God" (Jn 11:40)
I am an unmarried man. Very
early in life I became the victim of a number of vices. My intention in
going for a retreat was to be freed from them. Not knowing what to ask
for, I asked like a little child, "Give me a flower". God gave me a veritable
garden of flowers and fruits.
When I reached Divine with
a longing for spiritual contentment, for the third time, unforgettable
experiences were awaiting me. During the Holy Hour Fr Panackal announced:
"The Lord is touching Jacob." From that moment onwards I began experiencing
his divine touch in all the healing I received. I praised and thanked him
with all my heart. I also received strength to overcome all the terrible
vices that had enslaved me. I was healed of a seemingly incurable ulcer
and of pain in the knee, corns on the soles of my feet and a bad toothache.
I, a chronic bachelor, became a member of the largest family on this earth-
the Divine Retreat Centre. Spiritual benefits as well as temporal ones
come my way in plenty. My devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and to the
Rosary increased by leaps and bounds. So did my experience of the power
of intercessory prayer.
Now I am working in Divine
at the Vachanolsavam counter. "Come, my heart says, seek his face! Your
face, Lord, do I seek" (Ps 27:8). Thanks and praise to you Jesus!
