Congenital Deafness
Healed
Sr Gnanamritham, a member
of St Ann's Congregation, was deaf from birth in her right ear. Grief,
and a sense of helplessness lay deep in her heart. All the same, she was
reconciled to what God had willed for her. It was then with nothing but
a burning desire to drink in the word of God and be filled with the Holy
Spirit, that Sr Gnanamritham attended the Palayamkottai Parish Bible Convention
that took place on the CSI school grounds, Tirunelvelli in May 1998. During
the healing prayer, Fr Augustine Mundackatt gave the message that some
people hard of hearing were being healed. They were advised to check by
listening to the prayer, closing the ears alternately. Sr Gnanamritham,
covered her left ear with her palm and tried to listen with her right ear.
The word of God then entered not only her mind but also her right ear as
gnanam(knowledge) and amritham (nectar).
Along with the others who
had been blessed with a cure, Sr Gnanamritham rushed up to the stage to
proclaim the Lord's abundant power and goodness. "The Lord, your God,
is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you
with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exalt over you with
loud singing" (Zeph 3:17).
