His Mercies Never Cease
 

My name is Leena Lopez. I am a medical doctor. I am 37 years of age and have been happily married (Praise the Lord!) for 10 years. We have a 9-year-old son. From the time our son turned 5, we were anxious for a second child. I was on treatment for 2 years since I had developed a condition called Polycystic ovarian disease which is characterised by enlarged cystic ovaries, menstrual irregularity, hormonal imbalance, and inability to conceive. In May 1996 my husband and I attended the five-day-retreat at Hubli conducted by the Potta team led by Rev Fr Augustine Mundackatt. On the 1st day itself I was aware of a "Presence" within me besides love for reading the word of God. On the 5th day of the retreat, I went for confession along with rest of the congregation. That day Father announced, "The Lord has healed 15 women of diseases and tumours of the ovaries and one of them is a doctor. The Lord has also blessed seven couples with the gift of conception. In 1 1/2 years’ time they will be blessed with issues".

Yes, the Lord had healed me. Soon after, a scan showed that both my ovaries had shrunk to their normal size. I conceived and in 1 12 years’ time from the date of the retreat, I delivered twins-two little girls on October 14th 1997! Praise and thanks be to God for everything!

The pregnancy was a complicated one. I started bleeding in the 1st 6 weeks and was hospitalised for a couple of days. I was advised complete bedrest throughout pregnancy and was on several types of medication. Every check up brought to light some new complication. I was due for delivery on November 14th but on October 14th, I event into labour and delivered through emergency caesarian section 2 normal but tiny baby girls. Though of low birth weight, their reflexes were like those of term babies and they did not require any specialised care like the use of incubator, feeding tubes etc.

The Lord sustained me during those complicated months of pregnancy through the constant prayerful reading of Psalm 91 and Isaiah 43:1-5.

The Lord continues to assist me in the care of my little ones with his protection. The Lord, myself and my angel guardian take care of my little ones. Is not that more than enough? The babies are now 1 1/2 years old and are growing beautifully. My family thanks the Lord God for every blessing great and small he has bestowed on us. For all that has been, thanks and praise, for all that is, thanks and praise and for all that will be, thanks and praise!
