IN THE SHADE OF A GREAT ROCK

How realistic are these words of God! My fervent prayer, faith and persistent appeal to the Almighty have been rewarded.

I have been suffering from an allergy for as long as 15 years. I was under homeopathic and allopathic treatment, but it was in vain. It was a nightmare in September 1996, when the allergy took an abrupt and vehement turn for the worse. A boil- like thing spread all over my body, particularly on my face, palms of my hands and around the neck. A watery substance was oozing out of my body. The odour of it was so odious that people hesitated to enter my house.

The doctors, who attended on me gave up my case, saying there was no remedy. An ayurvedic specialist, could succeed nearly 75% in his attempt to reduce the severity. But it relapsed time and again. A dejected soul I was. Totally frustrated and overwhelmed by these perennial problems, I became so impudent as to blame God for all my sufferings, cursed him as merciless and lost all faith in him.

At this juncture, the Divya Prakasam Prayer group to which I belong was praying for me persistently. The counselling given by them made me resolve to visit Potta in January '97. Despite all odds, namely, a pecuniary loss due to theft, sudden setback to my husband's health and above all, loss of my own job, I proposed a trip to Potta. It was a testing time for me.

The piety, prayers and the atmosphere at the Divine Centre gave me solace, relief and peace. On Thursday, the day for praying for the sick, when the priest announced that God was touching those who were suffering from allergy and curing them, I felt a strange sensation, but nothing was obvious. On my return to Pune, I realised that I was completely cured. To my astonishment, my face, hands and neck which were blackened by the marks left by the allergy, are changing to the original colour. Praise the Lord! Besides, I have since been informed that my eldest brother, who was not on talking terms with my sister, for about ten years, is on good terms with her now. Praise the Lord!

I felt ashamed when I failed to give witness to this act of God's mercy. However, I revealed this miracle to all my friends and relatives and even to unknown people and urged them to visit Potta which is "like the shade of a great rock in a weary land"( Is 32: 2). Praise the Lord! Thanks be to God!!
