The Joy of Working for God

I belong to Njarackal of Ernakulam District. I have my wife and 11 children. I was a fisherman and an addict to alcoholism. In 1981, I developed a brain tumour and was treated in the hospitals at Ernakulam, Kollam and Parur. Since there was no relief I left my home and village with the only thought of putting an end to my life.

Sustaining my life only on the Eucharist and water I walked all the distance to Velankanni. I continued on my journey, went walking to Mylapur and then to Ramanathpuram where I got a job and stayed for some days . As a result of the pilgrimage made with the thought of God, the fear of death left me. There was some improvement in my condition. When some hope was born in my heart I wrote a letter to my family. My eldest son-in-law came and took me home. In 1981, while the terrible Vypeen liquour tragedy had taken toll of several lives, I escaped contracting cancer though I was a hopeless case of alcoholism at that time.

On May 22nd 1987, I went to Potta Ashram for a retreat. While I listened to the classes on sin and its effects, and on the anointing of the Holy Spirit, I began repenting of my sins. The terrible resentment I had towards priests was overcome. Jesus healed me completely of my disease. I have never had to take any medicine thereafter. In 1993, at the Bible Convention held at Potta, volunteers were required to take 50 copies of Vachanotsavam to Tamil Nadu. On that day I entered the field of evangelisation. Overcoming several obstacles, I distribute freely Vachanotsavam in Mettupalayam , Rameshwaram, Kulachal, Mylapur, Nagarcoil, Kanyakumari and Rayapuram. I have taken six hundred people to the Divine from Ramesh-waram for the retreats. For the last 2 years I have also been distributing Vachanotsavam in Rameshwaram. As I carry the bundles and distribute them I experience an indescribable joy and grace of God. I cannot express the satisfaction I feel when families are blessed with many graces, give up sin and alcoholism after reading Vachanot-savam. Their joy and sense of freedom cannot be described. Every day I pray for those places where the magazine is not available and those who do voluntary service and their families. When I watch the deep satisfaction and spiritual joy of those who book free copies for others, I pray that many more people may come forward for this work of free distribution and that the word of God may spread in places where Jesus is not known. Jesus blessed me abundantly. Praise you Jesus, thank you Jesus!
