The Ways of Divine Providence

My son Rohit met with a scooter accident on 13-10-1998 at Miramar-Anjim. He was found lying unconscious on the road by his wife, who was passing that way. Although there were people who gathered around, no one lifted or touched him. It was only Divine Providence who brought his wife to pass that way. She just peeped to see who had met with an accident when she realised it was her husband. Immediately, she took him along with a friend to the Goa Medical Hospital where he was attended to. By the time he regained his consciousness, he was in agony and pain as he had deep bruises on his legs and hands and face and a fractured elbow.

Immediately I was informed about the accident but I did not have the courage to rush and see my son but only kept praying to our risen Lord to be with him. Within a couple of hours they phoned and informed me that Jesus had miraculously saved Rohit and he had no major head or spinal injuries although he had a hairline fracture on the right temple above the eyebrow and on the right elbow. It was only the next morning that I went to see my son at the hospital. Rohit was in the hospital for 2 weeks and had to be operated on for fracture of the right elbow. Unfortunately the first operation was not successful and he had to be operated on again within 36 hours. After being discharged Rohit was home for 2 months undergoing physiotherapy but with not much success and the flexibility and mobility were not satisfactory. So we consulted a private orthopaedic surgeon in Panjim and after the X-ray he said that the pins and screws that were put into the elbow were a millimeter too long and had to be removed but the bones were set. Again on 2nd December another surgery was done to remove the pins and screws and he was back for physiotherapy. But still, flexibility and mobility of the hand were just 45 percent. As a result he could not use the hand much to eat, shave or comb his hair.

Rohit said he wanted to go to Mumbai for another opinion. Then suddenly a lawyer friend of Rohit’s suggested the name of Dr N S Laud an orthopaedic joint specialist in Mumbai and we rushed there on 15th May. On 9th May Rohit was operated on for the 4th time on the right elbow. Lord Jesus was with the doctors and Rohit in the operation theatre and with me too. I am happy to say that the operation was very successful and Rohit was able to use his hand normally and totally. Praise the Lord Alleluia!!

Every Thursday morning, during my prayers I place my children at the foot of the altar at DRC to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I get peace and with heartfelt gratitude I thank Almighty Lord and Jesus and the Holy Spirit for healing my son. I also thank Jesus my friend for helping and being with me when I am lonely and in need of someone to complete my daily household work and other jobs. Jesus never fails me. Thank you Jesus, Praise you Jesus with God the Father and Holy Spirit. Alleluia!!
