Youth should work for world peace
 
Paris: Pope John Paul II has exhorted the youth of the world to work for world peace. They should fight against the poverty and injustice of society and come forward to offer their services in times of adversity. The Pope said this while addressing the World Assembly of Youth in Paris.
 
It is the youth who have the greatest potential to give love, and work in collaboration with society. They, who are in the spring time of life, should never be reluctant to serve society or fulfil their duties, the Pope added.
 
 
Frederick Ozaanam - a true Christian!
 
Paris: Pope John Paul II called Frederick Ozaanam, the founder of St Vincent de Paul Society, a true Christian! He has stated that the young people who desire to be true Christians, should choose Ozaanam's way of life. Every man in this world is our brother. We should love him unconditionally, regardless of his caste, creed or nationality. If he is in need, he deserves our help. It was when the Pope gave the homily on the occasion of declaring Frederick Ozaanam "Blessed", that he said this.
 
The Pope recalled that before the II World War, he too, as a student, was a member of St Vincent de Paul society. The Pope stated that Ozaanam was one who lived the gospel command to love God and neighbour. There are more than 10 lakh members in Vincent de Paul Society founded by Ozaanam.
 
 
Selfless love - foundation of marriage
 
St Antonio: "The foundation of family life is the love of God and mutual love and trust. Couples should, therefore, learn to love selflessly, "said Archbishop Patrick F Florid, inaugurating the 26th married couples convention at St Antonio. He exhorted them not to forfeit the sublimity of family life by being immersed in selfish interests.
 
Through married life, they are fulfilling the noblest task in this world. It is according to God's plan that each individual enters this state of life. They should, therefore, give importance to spiritual and moral obligations as well as to physical responsibilities, said the Archbishop.
 
 
CUI calls upon Central Power to Root out Corruption
 
Bangalore: The general body meeting of the Christian Union of India (CUI), which is an organization for peace with justice, has called upon the national government and those in authority to make an all-out effort to eradicate corruption. Corruption, poverty, communalism were the current, burning problems of the country. Everything possible should be done to ensure the growth of a secular democracy where equality and dignity for all would be ensured.(Sar News)
