Visa Problem Solved

I am writing this to testify to the many mighty miracles that the Lord has worked in my life especially in the last few months.

It all started when after getting a scholarship to a college in the US, I tried for the US visa in India. I was denied the visa because I was told, being a refugee, once I went to US as a student, I might stay on as an immigrant.

I was really downcast because I felt that there was no other door that was open for me. There was however another option: to try for my visa in Sri Lanka, my country of birth and citizenship.

Fortunately my family is a deeply Christian one and all my near and dear ones told me to trust strongly in the Lord as I was becoming desperate. So I prayed to the Lord placing all my pain and apprehension at his feet.

Earlier I had promised Jesus to come to the Divine Retreat centre after I went for my interview, but I could not keep my promise as I was busy collecting the documents for my interview in Sri Lanka.

By the grace of God, I arrived safely in Sri Lanka. But I did not succeed in attaining my visa. I was dumb-struck with grief as I did not know what to do. Here I was in Sri Lanka without a visa to go back to India and at least continue my education there or with a visa to go and study in the U S. I was well and truly in a fix.

When I was wallowing in despair in the lounge of the US embassy, a kind lady, working as a security guard, reassured me telling me to try again and again as many students did not get it in their first attempt. This assurance relieved me a bit and now I feel that it was a reassurance from the Lord Jesus who loves me. Praise him!

The last time I went for the interview, I was not very hopeful. But by this time I had surrendered my whole future at the feet of the Lord and I was blissful. I told the Lord, "Everything is in your hands. Not my will but yours be done."

I was one of the last applicants to be interviewed and by the mercy of God it was a kind lady who interviewed me. Although she was aware of my ineligibility to get the visa, she chose to make an exception in my case, because I had good marks and issued it. Praise the Lord!

When I returned to my cousin's house where I was staying, thanking and praising God, I immediately tried to phone my Dad in India. However many times I tried I could not get through, so we replaced the receiver and the phone rang immediately. It was my Dad! Praise the Lord. The place where he called from, convinced me that it was a miracle. It was from Potta. My father had been praying with a prayer- group there. Now this was even more delightful to my ears than the fact that I got the visa!

Then I came to the Divine Retreat Centre to make my retreat. There I was further blessed with a message when my name was called out as one whom Jesus loved and cared for.

God also protected me in many ways during my stay in Sri Lanka. The authorities tend to suspect new faces. Though I was on the urge of being arrested my good Lord shielded me and never let any such untoward thing happen to me. Thank you Jesus ! Praise you Jesus!
