The Jewish Rabbis have written
to the Pope requesting him to take action to remove the crosses erected
by Polish Catholics near Auchwitz, the Jewish concentration camp. There
are about a hundred crosses erected in the two-acre cemetery next to the
concentration camp. The owners of this piece of land, the Carmelites, had
given it on rent to a private organisation which was helping the victims
of war. The chief Jewish Rabbi, Meir Yisrael Law has requested the Ambassador
of Poland that a monument in memory of the Jewish children killed by the
Nazis should be put up instead of the crosses.
Archbishop Thomas Menamparambil
has exhorted the Hindu missionaries working in North India to enter the
path of service. If they speak the language of service Christians will
be their best helpers. If Hindu Missionaries keep aiming at the social
and cultural development of the country, there can be mutual co-operation.
But the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has exhorted the Hindu missionaries to convert
Christians to Hinduism and to stop the work of Christian missionaries.
The Archbishop added that there was no need for anxiety that Hindu missionaries
will convert Christians.
