I was overjoyed to have a chance to attend the retreat at Chertsy in March '99, conducted by Fr. Augustine Mundackatt and Dr. Rohan. It started on the 26th, at 8 pm. My friends wondered how I would cope as my severe back pain made it impossible for me to stand or walk for more than ten minutes. I told them, "The Holy Spirit will have to cure me".

The retreat had hardly started when we stood up singing hymns before the Mass. I had hardly stood for 15 minutes, when my back started aching badly. I did not want to sit down as I was in front, in the 2nd row. Just then a strong, cool breeze blew over me, knocking me off my feet. I had to sit down for fear of losing my balance. It was much later that I read an article in 'Vachanot-savam' that the Holy Spirit manifests himself through signs of fire, water and air. When I stood up next before the Mass started, I realised my back pain had gone completely. In fact, Father Mundackatt had announced, "Four people have had their back pain cured. I have just got a message- four people's back pain is cured. Put up your hands". Three people did so. "There should be a fourth", Father said. I went up to Father later and told him I was the fourth.

The same evening I had the blessing of a few more healings. My left knee and both my shoulders which had acute pain were healed completely. It is now the middle of May. I have not suffered from knee pain or shoulder pain or back pain since the healing sessions during that retreat in March. On the second day of the retreat I experienced the partial cure of my right eye. I lost the vision in that eye a year ago, due to high blood pressure. Three consultants had told me the damage was permanent. After the healing prayer before the Eucharist, I retained some vision and I was able to distinguish the features of people and see colours. Before that, there was a black patch when I viewed with the damaged eye. I could only see the outline of objects and could not distinguish colours. I can read a few words now, after 11/2 mts. I am sure I will be able to read by and by. Meanwhile the arthritis on my right foot and the fingers of both my hands have been cured. I could not hold a book in my hands for long, or sew or cut up vegetables without great pain.

I have had one more healing. I attended a day's retreat at Parson's Green on the 5th of April '99 conducted by Fr Mundackatt and Dr. Rohan. During the exposition of the Eucharist, Father announced among other healings, that people with bad hearing have been cured. I can now hear better when people speak softly. Also, I am able to keep down the volume of my television. I had it blaring before, to enable me to hear. I often switched it off for fear of disturbing others. I had taken a lot of quinine for malaria when I was young and that affected my hearing. It became worse with old age. I am thankful it is much better now.

I went to my G. P. yesterday and I told my doctor about the cure I experienced after my retreat. My doctor had often told me I had to live with my backache, as it was due to the wear and tear of old age. I will be 80 years old in two months. The doctor had given me pain killers for relief. She was very pleased to hear I was healed. I told her I had also prayed for my vertigo to go but I have to live with it. She said, "God knows it is more important to cure your backache". Thank you, Jesus, for your mercy. I am continuing to pray for my dear ones to be relieved of their illnesses and troubles and for the world in general. Thank you, my Lord, for all your blessings! Praise you Jesus! Thank you Jesus!
